Who We Are
Once James was old enough to swing a hammer, he wanted to help his dad with construction work. While still in school he worked for the business during the summers and continued to learn and work alongside his father. After school James worked full time for Quality Builders and eventually started to help lead the business. When Alvin decided to retire from Quality Builders in 2016, James completely took over the operations of the business. Over the course of the next few years James shifted the company more towards interior remodeling. He started focusing mainly on custom kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and additions.
Mike started his construction career in 2005 and worked through college at Penn State. He began helping James in 2017 to fill a need on the crew, and quickly became the go-to-guy for bathrooms and basements. In 2019 Mike joined James in becoming a co-owner of Quality Builders. Mike saw an increasing need to improve the tile installation and scheduling options for our bathroom projects. This led to the creation of our tile division, Quality Tile Co, in 2021.
How We Started
Quality Builders was founded in 1988 by James’s father, Alvin Petersheim, out of a need for quality craftsmanship combined with a fair price. Alvin remembers calling the lumberyards with a CB radio to coordinate orders and deliveries before he had a cell phone. Quality Builders’ first large project was a wood fencing job in Frazer PA. From there Alvin continued to expand the business and relied on “word of mouth” for his future projects and growth. Alvin began the company doing mostly exterior projects. As the business expanded, he began including interior remodeling and repairs. Alvin created a culture of honor, hard work, and honesty. This has been the foundation of Quality Builders for more than 35 years.
